Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Apply basics of sterile work and bacterial laboratory techniques, as well as the foundations of microbiology
  2. Compare and distinguish the basic groups of microbes, including prokaryotic microbes (Archaea, Bacteria)
  3. Define and describe viruses, their structure and how they invade to host cell
  4. Explain the dynamics of commensal, opportunistic, and pathological relationships particularly between microbes and humans.
  5. Present and describe how microorganisms can be used in industry
  6. Raise awareness about food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses (12.3.1.
