Course Objectives This course offers an overview of the competing principles in education. The principles are discussed with reference to the results of contemporary brain research and challenges of the modern classroom. Various teaching, learning, and assessment techniques are analyzed.

Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. describe the fundamental assumptions about teaching and learning;
  2. describe the importance of an informed approach in developing teaching and assessment techniques;
  3. state the role of brain research in developing student-centered teaching approaches;
  4. reflect on the issues that cause debates among educators;
  5. evaluate teaching plans.
