Course Objectives • Presents the development of the methodology of teaching English language and explain the reasons for the use of certain methods and teaching practices in the classroom • Lead students to think critically about current research relating to methods of teaching English language and to present the development of curricula. • Process professional review of material for learning a foreign language, in the light of current trends in teaching methodology, which can be used for the initial adoption of textbooks, guidelines in the use of materials, or adaptation of materials based on the philosophy of teaching and based on empirically tested research

Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Explain the development of teaching methodology of English language and understand the reasons for the use of certain methods and teaching practices on a personal level
  2. Understand and critically reflect on current research relating to methods of teaching English and to understand the development of curricula
  3. Master professional review of material for learning a foreign language in the light of current trends in teaching methodology
  4. Adopt materials and different methods which can be used in their teaching practice
  5. Transfer to the coherent and well adopted knowledge of theory based on the empirically tested research philosophy of teaching.
Teaching Methods Lecturing and class discussions with examples of different teaching theories. Active discussion sessions for engaged learning and continuous feedback on progress. Individual presentations.
