Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide students with the essential knowledge of financial management concepts and issues. The course focuses on teaching basic finance concepts, techniques, principles and their applications to future and current managers for giving a thorough understanding of the financial theory that is essential for developing and implementing effective financial strategies.
Textbook Brigham, Eugune F. and Ehrhardt, Michael C. (2017), Financial Management: Theory and Practice, 15th Edition, Cengage Learning.
Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Understand acquiring funds from financial markets and how to use these funds.
  2. Discuss the effect of inflation volatility, exchange rate volatility, and lack of liquidity on cash flow projections, terminal value, and liquidation value for projects in emerging markets.
  3. Estimate the equity risk premium and discuss its role in the determination of required returns.
  4. Discuss the rationale for mergers and the chief methods of valuing an acquisition target company.
  5. Develop a grasping of the tools that are used to value investment projects and companies (valuation).
Teaching Methods The methods include lectures (which may involve power point presentation, video and audio aids), student presentations, projects and class discussions.
