Abstract

This chapter investigates the evolution of health insurance driven by digital technology, focusing on emerging digitalization trends transforming the European health insurance market. The paper shows how digital technology drives health insurance, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The COVID-19 epidemic has highlighted the shift from conventional distribution techniques and accelerated the shift to digital platforms. The European health insurance premiums and payments are trending upwards, demonstrating the industry's adaptability to technological advances. The novelty of the chapter lies in proposing a novel framework based on contemporary technological advances, providing an understanding of the influence of digital distribution channels on health insurance. The study's findings can affect lawmakers, insurance companies, and other health insurance stakeholders. Adapting to technological advances is essential to remain competitive and enhance services. Therefore, a strategic framework is critical for digital health insurance sales channels to meet evolving market expectations and ensure seamless client experiences across all platforms.
