Abstract

The presence of Turkey in the Balkan region, and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been more than six centuries and backdates to the Ottoman times. Therefore, the image of Ottomans has been constructed in relation to the positions and social status of peoples who lived in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These images vary from very positive to very negative perceptions of the Ottomans and their role in Balkans in general and Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular.  With the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, these images have been more or less transferred and associated with the modern Republic of Turkey.
