Abstract

OZETMalzeme seçimi önemli bir konudur. Günümüzde kullanilan 160 bin malzemearasindan secim yapmak cok onemli ve fakat kolay bir is degildir. İlgili teknik personelin (makina, metalurji muh vb gibi) istenen sartlarda calisabilecek uygun malzemeyi secebilmesi  icin mutlaka sozkonusu malzemelerin yapi ve ozellikleri hakkinda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmasi gerekmektedir. Aksi halde, yanlis malzeme secimi sonucu istebnmeyen kotu sonuclar ortaya cikabilir. ABSTRACT                                                            Selection of materials is an important issue. It is so vital to select the suitable material within the 160 thousands materials spectrum and not easy procedure.  A technical person (a mechanical or metallurgical engineer or technologist) cannot select the suitable materials for an application area without having the sufficient knowledge about the structure and properties of materials. Otherwise, errors can reach to enormous extents; this situation makes difficult for the selector of materials and other related units. In this article, first fundamentals of materials` selection are explained and then selection for implants and tooth filling materials are done. In the materials selection, Ashby diagrams are used and then the succesful material is selected within the candidates having maximum points after all. As a result, stainless steel and amalgams are selected for implants and tooth filling materials, respectively due to better performance comparing to the other candidate materials.
