Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide an in-depth exploration of contemporary issues in banking, integrating theoretical models with empirical evidence. It examines banking structure, regulation, financial intermediation, risk management, competition, monetary policy transmission, and the impact of financial crises. Special attention is given to emerging topics such as fintech, digital banking, and climate risks in banking.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

Critically assess the structure, regulation, and risk management strategies within the banking sector, integrating theoretical frameworks with empirical evidence.

Utilize financial models and analytical tools to examine competition, monetary policy transmission, and the effects of financial crises on banking institutions.
