Course Objectives The aim of this doctoral seminar is to examine the role and importance of strategic human resource management in organizational performance by focusing on both the “macro” side of managing people within organizations as well as traditional micro topics of human resource studies. To that end, we will examine the existing and emerging theoretical perspectives in the human resource management field.
Textbook Storey, J., Ulrich, D., & Wright, P. M. (2019). Strategic Human Resource Management: A Research Overview / The list of required readings will be delivered separately.
Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Attribute and differentiate among the concepts, theory, and research in strategic human resource management (SHRM).
  2. Summarize, integrate, and evaluate the research in SHRM.
  3. Propose new ideas and/or approaches that advance this research literature and that might serve as starting points for publishable research papers.
  4. Master research process skills critical to success in an academic career such as the ability to think clearly and communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
Teaching Methods The methods include lectures (which may involve PowerPoint presentation, video, and audio aids), student presentations, projects, and class discussions.
